We’ve noticed several in our garden in the past couple of weeks and have read reports of others in Waikanae having problems with them.  According to the Department of Conservation website, “The best way to reduce a local wasp population is to find and destroy all the nests in the area. Usually wasps fly no further than 200 metres, so you should aim to kill all the nests within this range.”

Unfortunately, not everybody takes a responsible attitude to insect pests, and we have long had problems with a certain large property renting business neighbour, however, most folks will be able to co-operate in a good-neighbourly manner.
