Some recent plantings are visible just beyond the little footbridge.

If you enjoy the walking tracks around the estuary you will already appreciate the years of hard work that this wonderful group has put in to making it a haven for wildlife — and they badly need volunteers! If you’ve recently relinquished a life-style garden for a smaller home, think of getting your gardening “fix” with them every fortnight. 🙂

Pam Stapleton says everyone is hugely welcome to their Open Day and the first of their autumn group planting days – including planting native plants on the dunes and weeding.

Meet them at the Tutere Street Estuary Car Park (look for the flags) — morning tea (yummy home baking) is provided and some tools and gloves, but bring your own if you have some. Wear suitable clothing (keep an eye on the weather).

If a postponement is necessary (surely not, looking outside now) it will be announced over the radio — Beach FM 106.3

Then put these dates in your diaries for the next WECG working bees:-

20 May — Hadfield Place, Paraparaumu, site M,N
10 June — Tutere St, Waikanae, Salt Marsh
24 June — Takahe Drive, Paraparaumu, Honda infilling
8 July — Takahe Dr Paraparaumu, Burn site A
22 July — Tutere St Waikanae, Hillside below Queens Drive
