There has been a lot of wondering on the part of locals about this, which increased as a result of the Dominion Post article on the Maypole company development in the Waikanae Beach zone.

In that article, one of its directors, Jonathon Smith, was quoted as saying that they had offered space there to the Ministry of Education for a school, but they had not expressed interest in it. It would actually be a good use for that land, but clearly the Ministry sees the Waikanae North site as sufficient in the foreseeable future.
