The photo shows Ngātiawa ki Kapiti CT Board Member, Advisor 2005-2018 and Koro – Dr Huirangi Waikerepuru taking the Prime Minister (left) onto Ratana Pa last week. Koro has been living on the Kapiti Coast for over a year.
Koro was a major influence in putting Te Reo back in the education system in NZ. His last piece of work was the translations of old Taranaki Maori dialect writings of our Tupuna/Ancestors’ writings about Ngātiawa ki Kapiti and the “Creation of Mankind” filed at the UN World Library as the “Original History of Maori in NZ” written at Maungakotokutoku by our great-great grandfather.
Koro has with his daughter, been working with artist Wi Taepa (Kereama Taepa) creating a Marae at Otago Uni Wellington. He was also one of the prominent Kaumatua who opened the Kapiti College Marae several years ago.
