This was an ultimately abandoned attempt to create a marina, using a former Kapuni gas pipeline suction dredge to remove sand and peat. “Powered by a 200 hp diesel, the dredge moved 50–80 tons of soil per hour.”

Although that attempt failed, it made a significant difference to the landscape in the area.
