Last night on TV One was broadcast the second of two Fair Go 40th anniversary specials, the distinctly Kiwi consumer investigation show on which all manner of petty crooks, scam artists, dodgy dealers and bad tradesmen have been exposed, stupid management decisions in both business (particularly banks and insurance companies) and local government challenged, consumer gripes examined, and viewers given the opportunity to vote for their most and least liked TV commercials.

The show’s refreshingly direct, no-nonsense approach has been a source of inspiration for us, and regular readers will probably have detected that. 🙂

Kevin Milne was was the frontman from 1983 to 2010 and put his memoirs in book form with The Life and Times of a Brown Paper Bag.

He has also been a resident of Waikanae for over 20 years and the entrance to his lifestyle block not far east of the township on the Reikorangi Road makes an impressive display in spring, as shown in this post.

Local news items have appeared from time to time, this one on the stuff website is on his restored caravan, a 1936 Tanner.1936 tanner

This Newstalk ZB interview with Jack Tame dealt with his encounter with an intimidating dog and its owner on Waikanae Beach a couple of years ago.

His book from 2010 is in our own library and has our recommendation.
