Indians Mahara Dance.jpg

Jeevika and Jiya Dhanwani, 10-year-old twins, performing a Bharata-Natyam dance at the Mahara Gallery last Saturday.  Most of the accompanying music was recorded, although you will note the bands just above their ankles which contain bells.

The whole synchronized performance involves about 100 different moves.  We figure that the words in the soundtrack chant must be the audio cues for when to do what.

One performance was inside and another was outside on the artificial grass, although the temperature wasn’t exactly authentic of India; any Indian visitors must find it hard to acclimatise to temperatures here (and vice versa).
