WaikanaeRiverWalkover GWRC 23 Oct

Being organised by the Flood Protection Department of the Greater Wellington Regional Council, this annual walkover of the river takes place to:

  • Allow people to identify and discuss issues relating to operations and maintenance works carried out under the operational maintenance resource consent held by Flood Protection;
  • Monitor implementation of the Waikanae Floodplain Management Plan; and
  • View environmental enhancement and restoration works in progress

“We will be meeting at the Karu Reserve car park on the river bank, south side of the road (downstream of the old State Highway One bridge) at 9.00 am on Tuesday, 23 October.

“Greater Wellington staff will be on hand to direct parking. A light lunch will be provided en route at midday. We expect to finish the walkover by 2.30 pm at the Waikanae Estuary (Waiheke Street). We will have buses available to take people back to their cars at the starting location.

“For catering purposes, please confirm your attendance with Amanda Death (04 830 4048 or amanda.death@gw.govt.nz) by 18 October 2018. We look forward to seeing you there.”
