According to this monitoring webpage of the GWRC. That was 60 mm up on the total for 2017 and 10 mm up on 2016. The first 3 months of 2015 were fairly dry, however, and the total for that year was 1.227 metres.
The total rainfall for 2014, the first full year of the Rowan & Dougherty water meters, was 1.242 metres; so the past 3 years should have meant that people will have used less tap water to water their gardens — but — let’s wait for Cr Holborow’s proclamation that people are using less water because of the ridiculous water meters she voted for!

Good one.
Clearly there was no appetite for water meters when they were thrust upon us by the old mayor. We have now had 2 more mayors who were committed to dropping off water meters, until they touched the trough and did a 180.
Meanwhile the council has let all the core services slide. Steady Kapiti growth without provision for water storage. No appetite to drop the vexed meters which only a minority wants, as they date and replacement at what $15 million? looms. Rubbish removal going through the roof but the council has no appetite to replace the closed tip. Storm what – $240 million odd suggested, but it will be more.
We have a council out of control and in in crisis which means that the ratepayers need to stand up and say enough is enough.
