With the standard 4 day Easter holiday period closely being followed by Anzac Day this year, a greater number of motorists than usual may be headed out on the highways.

The simple standard approach to safety and thus massively reducing the chances of being in an accident is to think “what if?”  — What if there’s a sudden blockage ahead?  Can I stop without crashing into the car in front?  What if that car appearing at the side road intersection doesn’t notice me, or thinks I’m going slower than I am?

Common sense should dictate the steps to take, but there is some good advice on the NZTA website here.

And don’t forget to check your car; most important are the tyres: they need enough tread and be at the right pressure
