from the council, we’ll post some pics when it’s complete:

Dear Waikanae Business Owner

Just a few finishing touches to go on our Mahara Place improvements.

New hand rails complete with under-lighting have been installed along the steps, and tactile studs have been fixed to stairs.

Next week we’ll be completing the installation of the anti-slip grips to the decks and steps so these can be opened up to the public.  Also the steel deck panels will be installed to the face of both decks. The bollards and bike racks in the Countdown carpark will be re-instated.

Looking ahead

We’re on track to apply a ‘bush hammer’ effect to concrete from 14th August.  This work could take 3 to 4 days and may be slightly noisy.

Bodhi Vincent has begun makeover work off-site on his Love Stone sculpture and will incorporate renovations into the sculpture over the next few weeks.

For the old Waikanae Library, a quick lick of paint to make it more presentable will be applied around the 19th August.

We’ll return briefly later in the month to install the canopies above the stage.

Going forward, if you have any worries or queries about the Mahara Place improvements, feel free to contact me on the numbers below, or email
