NZ Trust and Confidence Index

This graph shows survey results from 2013, 2015 and 2017 and are reasonably consistent. As can be seen, journalists rate poorly, even lower than Members of Parliament, and given some of the examples of shocking reporting that we’ve analysed on here recently, that’s not much of a surprise.

Local government members (councilors and mayors) rank slightly higher than MPs, but probably only because they don’t get as much attention normally.  In Kapiti of course, that’s rather different and we’re sure that the ranking of 35% for existing councilors would be a lot lower.

Lawyers unsurprisingly aren’t well thought of either.  But interestingly, public servants have about the same rating as lawyers; again in Kapiti the level of trust and confidence is sure to be lower.

The good news is that in Kapiti right now you can vote for people who can make things better.
