Although at the time of writing the KCDC has still not advised voting numbers with each contest (a totally unacceptable delay), the GWRC yesterday provided the result of the Kapiti seat on the council:
GAYLOR Penny 10,194
MACKAY Neil 6,593
Having endorsed Neil MacKay, this result is a disappointment for us, but Neil agrees he left his campaign far too late. Nevetheless, his tally is more than respectable for someone hitherto largely unknown.
We’ve encouraged Neil to express views with media releases about what happens with GWRC matters as they affect Kapiti over the next three years.

I was also sad to see this. I am looking forward to seeing Neil as a commentator.

Whatever Mr MacKay did or did not do for his campaign does not explain the mass ignorance intrinsic with re-electing the liar and fantasist, a.k.a. Penny Gaylor, any more than Ms. Gaylor’s victory over Nigel Wilson previously as Regional Councillor can be explained as the result of any rational causality.

Probably got in on the back of STV voting. Very sad.

Actually when there are only two candidates, it’s a straight old-style FPP situation.
