A surprising story on the Stuff website — not surprising that the Labour-led government should have done this, but surprising that Stuff should investigate and report it:
“The Government has sold at least 146 state homes, worth more than $30 million, since late 2017, according to figures released under the Official Information Act from state housing agency Kāinga Ora…
“In the lead up to the 2017 election Labour said if elected it would immediately end the sale of state houses.
“In December that year, former housing minister Phil Twyford issued a press release titled: Government stops the sale of state houses.”
Houses need to be healthy and livable and after so many years of National Party neglect – some would have cost more to get them to that standard than replacing them
Both Labour and National parties had 9 year terms in power — 1999 to 2008; 2008 to 2017 — \and neither did anything much to address infrastructure issues, particularly housing.
