Peter Grindrod of Coast Access Radio mentioned this to Geoffrey in the interview with him in August; finally, four months later we got to visit it.

The building, opened in October 2017, includes rooms for various indoor sports and pastimes as well as the library, but it was the last we were interested in. Stokes Valley, a part of Hutt City, has a population of 10,000 which is about the same as Waikanae. The floor area allocated to books and magazines is rather more than was the case with the old Waikanae building and covers two levels. There is an elevator for those confined to mobility scooters.

We were told that with the Smart Library system, visitors from Waikanae can borrow books, returning them to Waikanae, rather than having to return them to Stokes Valley.
