Today we begin a series on the truth of what is happening to the Earth’s climate. Historically there have always been periods of warming and cooling, but towards the end of the 20th century growing hysteria developed over the dangers of global warming which have proved to be unfounded. Ian Bradford looks at the scientific realities.
Predicting climatic disaster

In 1989 The UN predicted disaster if global warming was not checked. Nations would be wiped off the face of the earth, coastal regions flooded, about 23 million people displaced, a fifth of Egypt’s arable land flooded and many ecological refugees. Here we are 32 years on and has any of this happened? NO!
The UN then formed its climate mouthpiece the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change). The IPCC said ocean levels will rise by up to nearly a metre. The IPCC predicted 50 million would be displaced by rising sea levels by 2015. Did that happen? NO! They then quite surprisingly predicted the same thing for 2020. Did that happen? Again NO.
At one stage they said all Pacific Islanders would have to move to New Zealand. They said that 1/6 of Bangladesh would be flooded displacing a quarter of its 90 million people. So it went on. They then stated that nations had a ten year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control. The world had to solve this “problem” by the year 2000. S
The value of CO2
The sun’s rays are reflected from the surface of the earth and the greenhouse gases trap many of these reflections so that the earth is kept warm.
So what was the issue here? The UN through the IPCC claimed that humans were increasingly putting carbon dioxide (CO2), into the atmosphere from various sources and that was causing serious global warming and large sea level rises.
I have read reports that stated that CO2 is a poisonous gas and a pollutant. Neither is true. It is a very important gas essential for the survival of humans. It is essentially plant food. If CO2 falls below a certain level all plants die and so do we. Of course plants give us oxygen as a result of taking in CO2 and through the process of photosynthesis.
Some serious research showed that human induced (anthropogenic) global warming was the biggest fraud the earth has ever seen. Here are some facts:
- While the IPCC would have people believe that CO2 is the main greenhouse gas it is not. Water vapour is and makes up about 90% of the greenhouse gases. CO2 only makes up about 6% of the greenhouse gases. The problem is you cannot tax water so that is why CO2 was selected. The present concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is a bit over 400 parts per million (ppm).
- Since the Industrial Revolution some 170 years ago the temperature of the earth has risen about 1 degree Celsius (C). Humans have been responsible for .01 degree C of that.
- The current rate of sea level rise is 1.8mm per year. By the year 2100 at this rate the sea will have risen about 5 inches (13-14cm). However, the rate of sea level rise is decreasing, so the rise by 2100 could be much less than 5 inches perhaps only 3 inches. Interestingly that the rate of sea level rise is decreasing but more CO2 is being put into the air.
- If we double the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere the temperature of the earth will only rise about 1 degree C. This has a huge advantage in that the yield from planted crops would increase markedly. This would help feed the growing world population.
An historical CO2 – temperature link?
Back in geological time, the concentration of CO2 reached as high as 7000 ppm. When the average temperature of the earth was 12 degrees C as it is now, the concentration of CO2 was 4500 ppm. This occurred in the Ordovician period some 450 million years ago. Long before humans had any influence.
Looking at the geological past it is clear there is no correlation between CO2 levels and the temperature of the earth.
The temperature in the medieval warm period between about 1200AD and 1400AD was 1 degree warmer than it is now. This was long before humans began putting CO2 into the air. Our current warming trend started some 200 years before humans had any significant effect on contribution to the greenhouse gases.
For 33 years from 1944 to 1976 the temperature of the earth was actually falling.
Many thought perhaps this may be the beginning of an ice age, but then there was a slight warming. From 1995 to 2014 there was no change in the temperature of the earth. There was a hiatus. Both of these events happened while CO2 levels in the atmosphere were rising.
This latter event caused the IPCC and other global warming advocates to change the name from global warming to climate change!

Reminiscent of the panic spread by declaring that rivers and lakes are full of a lethal compound, dihydrogen oxide ,which results in nearly as many deaths per annum as road deaths.
In high concentrations — over 8% of the air — carbon dioxide becomes poisonous to humans , but that’s 200 times what it is now, so no danger! That concentration is quite possible, however, for those wearing the mandated (and useless) Covid ‘protection’ masks that governments have become obsessed with.
All this is so very true, but how do you educate all the loony people who believe the world is coming to an end???
Hi. Who is Ian Bradford and has he had any of his work peer reviewed and published and if so in what publications? I have a real problem assuming that so much of the global scientific community can be so wrong if Ian is so right. I get that predictions as to when disaster might happen can be out. But I am also keen to know who made such dire predictions as those Ian has selected for his article and that suit Ian’s own arguments.
Hi Bill, I have a geophysics degree and a law degree. I have spent nearly a year researching this problem. There are many books written by skeptics like me. A few weeks ago a current politician told me that the Govt. is propping up the newspapers. It seems there may be a price to pay. They will not print anything that opposes Govt. policy. This kind of thing has happened all over the world. The public never hears the other side of the story. As far as being a lone voice I am far from a lone voice. But I will give you a great example. During the 16th century the catholic church declared that the earth was the centre of our solar system. All the public were fed this and believed it. Just ONE person – Gallileo – said no, the sun was the centre of our solar system. The catholic church threatened to put him to death unless he recanted. He did recant but had to spend the rest of his life In solitary confinement. Of course he was absolutely right.
You could research climate yourself Bill. This is all political. It is not about climate. I will detail that later.

CO2 is not poisonous in itself. It becomes a problem because it displaces oxygen and that leads to breathing difficulties. Concentration has to be 400,000 ppm. We are at 400ppm at present. We have never gone over 7000ppm way back in geologicql time.

Put your two brain cells into gear and look at the evidence. The evidence, sonny, is not necessary what those on the gravy train tell you. If someone’s pay cheque depends on making a specific political statement be very very careful about its credibility.
1. The IPCC was headed for a long time by an Indian pornographer, now sacked and currently being charged for the sexual molestation of a female.
2. A senior UN/IPCC official now admits, on camera, that the IPCC is all about wealth distribution and nothing about the environment.
3. The major climate agencies in the USA, and perhaps elsewhere also, have adjusted climate data to exaggerate recent climatic warming.
4. Major players in or related to the IPCC, “Piltdown” Mann, Santer, staff of the UEA and others have fiddled climate data and even discussed, among themselves using email, how to do it.
5. Academic experts, Professors Carter, de Freitas and an Australian Great Barrier Reef expert for example, have been victimised for their sceptic views.
6. Geological evidence over the last 550 million years or more does not support the proposition that climate is driven by carbon dioxide.
7. Ice core evidence of the last half million years shows that carbon dioxide follows climate.
8. In recent decades temperature has not risen in proportion to the rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Thus experimental results do not fit the theory. Ipso facto the theory is wrong.
9. The government is advised by at least one person who has a vested and financial interest in promoting the view that climate change is caused by carbon dioxide.
10. Another advisor is a supporter of Al Gore who constructed his multi million dollar mansion on the sea coast but jets around the world in a private jet, emitting much carbon dioxide, to pontificate publically on sea level rise.
11. The recommendations of the Climate Change Commission, which I prefer to call the Flat Earth Commission, will adversely affect the New Zealand economy but will have absolutely no effect world wide in reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide or influence climate in any way.
12. To adversely affect our economy while our health service is severely compromised is simply obscene.

Great comments. I am familiar with most of them. Here’s another one. The IPCC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. (God knows why). Anyway that Indian you speak of who headed the IPCC for a time awarded himself the Nobel peace prize and awarded every member of the group the same. The prize was only for the group NOT for any individual. So every time a member spoke at a meeting to push the cause they were introduced as a Nobel laureate. This obviously, to give them great credibility.
Many skeptical scientists were victimised and many had their funds withdrawn.
We can only do our best but pink pigs will fly before the political fuckwits will listen.
I recall a speech given to a Te Awamutu ‘club’ by a NIWA scientist who doubted climate change extremes because he believed it to be cyclic with minor events at 7 years, a major trend lasting approx 70 years. His claim was made from NZ data analysis tempered by the lack of historical records. He was ostracised for his sins and lost his job eventually.

Yes this kind of thing has happened all over the world. Many scientists have lost their funding and many have been dismissed for daring to say global warming etc. is not caused by humans. There are a lot of dishonest scientist about who know this is a fraud but go along with it.
I have sent 32 page submission to four govt. members including the PM and James Shaw, as well as the Climate Commission. It includes facts and figures and graphs but written so that a non-scientist can understand it. If anyone reading this would like a copy, give your E-mail to the editor and ask him to send it to me then I will E-mail you a copy.

Yes I did send a copy to David Seymour, and Stuart Smith the National party spokesperson for climate has one too. If you put in “Oregon Petition” you will see that 31,000 USA scientists signed a petition saying man induced global warming etc was just not true. 90 Italian scientists petitioned the Italian leader also with the same message. Here’s a little gem. An American group called 10-10 released a film. It featured children who don’t believe in human induced global warming being blown up by their teacher. It created so much outrage it was immediately withdrawn. It was an outrageous attempt to scare little kids that if they didn’t believe what they were told to believe then they were killed.

I have read reports from highly qualified climate scientists who say the largest concentration of CO2 is in the deep oceans. When you pull a fizzy drink like say Champagne, out of the fridge and take the top off you can see bubbles of CO2 coming off. Now some of this initially is due to the release of pressure, but if you leave it it will like all fizzy drinks go “flat”. All the CO2 escapes into the atmosphere. The same happens in the oceans. Since we are still coming out of the last Ice age the oceans are warming though this warming is slowing considerably. This warming means the CO2 will escape into the atmosphere just like the champagne CO2. So many honest scientists will argue and I agree with them, that warming PRECEDES the emission of CO2- NOT the other way round, as the UN tries to tell us. So once again, humans have practically nothing to do with any global warming by producing CO2.
