The KCDC says that since the plan it put to the Waikanae Beach Residents Society and WCB members last year, “We have undertaken further design work, which has confirmed that it is not cost-effective to proceed with the changes we proposed.

“We will now seek funding through both the Council’s next Long-term Plan and the Regional Land Transport Plan processes for a roundabout at this location.”

This is exactly what the residents society wanted all along.

“In the meantime, we will undertake work to improve signage and markings in this area. We’re also planning to build two more pedestrian refuge crossing points on the eastern section of Te Moana Road.”
