Oxfam is a British-based charity which has as its objective ending the injustice of global poverty. It’s now clear that Lockdowns and other restrictions imposed by governments around the World, including the Jacinda government, have made a bad situation of massive inequality considerably worse. An ever-increasing number of people now believe that the vast-over-reaction to what is no worse than a bad seasonal flu for some and a mild cold for most has been deliberately orchestrated by the Oligarchs behind the U.N. to achieve exactly this consequence.
“The 1,000 richest people on the planet recouped their Cv-19 losses within just nine months, but it could take more than a decade for the world’s poorest to recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic, reveals a new Oxfam report today. ‘The Inequality Virus’ is being published on the opening day of the World Economic Forum’s ‘Davos Agenda’.
The report shows that Cv-19 has the potential to increase economic inequality in almost every country at once, the first time this has happened since records began over a century ago. Rising inequality means it could take at least 14 times longer for the number of people living in poverty to return to pre-pandemic levels than it took for the fortunes of the top 1,000, mostly White male, billionaires to bounce back.
A new global survey of 295 economists from 79 countries, commissioned by Oxfam, reveals that 87 percent of respondents, including Jeffrey Sachs, Jayati Ghosh and Gabriel Zucman, expect an ‘increase’ or a ‘major increase’ in income inequality in their country as a result of the pandemic.
Oxfam’s report shows how the rigged economic system is enabling a super-rich elite to amass wealth in the middle of the worst recession since the Great Depression while billions of people are struggling to make ends meet. It reveals how the pandemic is deepening long-standing economic, racial and gender divides.

Many may believe that, but that doesn’t make it true. Compared to flu, COVID-19 can cause more serious illnesses in some people. Additionally Long COVID is a range of symptoms that can last weeks or months after first being infected with the virus that can appear weeks after infection. Long COVID can happen to anyone who has had COVID-19, even if their illness was mild, or if they had no symptoms.
To see if lockdowns and other restrictions imposed by governments have made a bad situation of massive inequality considerably worse, lets wait a couple of weeks to see the consequences of England returning to minimal restrictions this week. Be thankful NZ is one of a handful of countries where we can live and work without the restrictions of other countries, and despite having a low vaccination rate currently have no Covid cases in the community. We have seen what can happen to our neighbours Fiji and Australia, so now is not the time to become complacent.

The first sentence of your third paragraph is non sequitur. Your second paragraph could be true in a very small number of cases, but the question becomes, are the massive disruptions to normal life justified by that, in other words is the cure much worse than the disease? Lastly, why do you not have the courage of your convictions to give your real name?
