That’s clearly the meme composer’s view, although we’re not so sure. It isn’t a show that comes to mind as being particularly critical/skeptical of the Jacinda government. Maybe as some suggest, they will be replaced with Moko wearing lefties, but it could just be that the show is too expensive for the remaining audience and will be scrapped. Like TV1 and Newshub/TV3 News, watching it is not an insightful/productive way to spend an hour these days.

Was it coincidence? I heard Duncan Garner on TV criticise the fatuous idea of changing the name of New Zealand to Aotearoa. A couple of days later he was gone.

The Tipping Point
Things can only stay the same for so long, the way in which the government communicates with the people has been steady for many decades. What we are seeing is that television, radio, and the newspapers days are numbered.
The rise of the internet signaled that a few decades ago and this was the catalyst for the fourth estate to drop whatever, principles they had and openly become the purveyors of the sensational, the dark, and whatever the highest bidder wanted to be put out there.
They (the media) are in a very precarious place it is “only” the government’s money that allows them to continue, and so upsetting the government is not on. But not many people realise this, the government is in a precarious place too. If there are no media, they cannot communicate with the people.
I don’t think it matters why Garner, Williams, Plunkett, etc are gone, the fact is they are gone and are now setting up their own platforms. Garner, Williams, and Plunkett etc, are the wise ones because people are waking up to the fact the media are just soooooo biased that even the oldies, who have grown up with TV, radio, and newspapers are turning off.
We have reached the tipping point.
Just a note in closing, I have found that when you stop engage with Mainstream media COVID-19 completely vanishes. It’s very liberating.
I agree that disengaging from Mainstream Media is liberating.
There is very little of interest or value going on there any more.
Mostly, talking heads babbling on about things they know little about and advertising, marketing and woke propaganda.
It’s infotainment.
I suggest that people might look into what is called The 4th Turning. It is a very interesting theory of repeating historical cycles.
Accordingly we are in a crisis period that began in 2008 and will last until around 2030.
During this period, out current and broken social and economic systems will be abandoned and replaced by new ones, which will hopefully be better.
It’s quite interesting for we “Boomers” because our lives will span one complete cycle of 4 stages or “seasons” from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next.
We were born into the high times of a new cycle, we rebelled against conformity and authority in the 60’s and 70’s and participated in the decline of the 80’s and 90’s to help provoke the current crisis from which the Millennials will emerge as the creators of a new social and economic system for the next 80 year cycle.
If we seek information to help guide us through the next decade, we will not be getting it from Garner and CO, so they will not be missed.
It is difficult to believe that there are people who do not view Facebook nor have i-phones, or apps for this-and-that, in fact who find the complications of electronic communication like tangled fishing line, unnegotiable.
It has been obvious for some time that the New Zealand Media has been compromised. There are such distortions that facts are rendered into lies; false news abounds.
With the decline in the purchase of the traditional daily newspaper, the reputable major outlets can be purchased by subscription on-line. Frequently, New Zealand events are more numerous and accurately reported in the foreign press. There is less Censorship.
