A reader says, “My intermediate aged child has come home and shown me that their compulsory task is to make a Christmas card for Jacinda Ardern. I’m not impressed: there’s many other things I’d like to wish her and it’s not Merry Christmas. They have also been made to watch 10 minute videos of her talking. Like it does to us listening to her it must also do to him, send him to sleep as he can’t quite remember what it was about.”
We wonder if a card reading like this will escape censorship: “Dear Jacinder, thanks for locking us down and making all my friends anxious, frightened and depressed. I hope you have a Xmas without your loved ones and get threatened with never seeing grandparents and cousins from overseas.”

Are you able to 1. Name the school and 2. Name the schools principal, without fear of prosecution.

It will be widespread unfortunately, not just one school, so naming and shaming may not be that appropriate. It’s a lesser issue than teaching ‘white privilege’ and ‘critical race theory’ which happens.

Are the children allowed to seal the envelopes themselves or do Christmas messages first get vetted by an official state security service member of the Aotearoa Democratic Republic?

If it was my child I would ask them if they thought it was appropriate and if they said no I would inform the schools that my child would not be taking part in this exercise
