You may not have noticed this week that our deputy PM Grant Robertson (he who refuses to answer emails about the pandemic because it is nothing to do with him) announced that as things stand there could not be a fourth booster shot. The reason is more revealing – New Zealand has run out of money.
Covid sure has eaten up the cash. Grant has spent $64 billion on the pandemic so far (before it has even arrived here) and there is nothing left. Our annual health budget is a paltry $20 billion; the $64 billion has been on top of that. So those of you who were thinking and blogging that the unvaccinated were depriving them of hospital beds might like to rethink.
Perhaps it is profligate spending on the vaccinated that has led to those long queues for tests and treatments for diseases like cancer (10,500 deaths per year) and heart disease (~6,000 deaths per year and rising). Just 52 people have died of Covid in NZ during the last two years and most of those few left in hospital are double vaccinated.
In fact, only a handful of people in NZ have died of Covid, the rest have died with it — there is a difference. The economic disaster poses a major problem for the next National-led government: the Party is well aware that it is going to inherit a huge mess from the Jacinda regime, but the mess may be much bigger than expected.–Eds
Yes, it is important to read the whole article. The thought of a National-led government is as horrendous as the current one. We will need a complete new system in Nu Terini – ALL current parliamentarians and their minions removed. Bring it on.
I totally agree with robin cameron. We need to bring down the whole system, get rid of ALL the pollies. That new Nazional party is no better than Jasinister. One of the first things I saw him quoted as saying was that he would cancel benefits for parents who didn’t get their kids jabbed. He followed that by saying that he thought abortion was murder. He is happy to murder them and increase Pfizer’s profits but not murder them by abortion!! We need, for a start a Constitution, a Bill of RIGHTS instead of a Bill of GOODS, as we have now and a system like the Canton system in Switzerland. Much as many have concerns about our political system in light of the unprecedented abuse of it by Ardern, realistically it’s going to take years, and a brand new popular party to see a transition to ‘grass roots’ democracy. Our problem as a country was that most of us, irrespective of our political leanings, fundamentally trusted who ever was ion power to ‘do the right thing’. That trust has been totally abused and largely destroyed since the last election. It’s currently a question of who you would trust the MOST, and then just work toward returning New Zealand to ALL New Zealanders. It wasn’t too long ago when life was ok for most of us – not perfect, but pretty good. We can get back there pretty quickly I reckon.

Geoff Waterhouse: There is no New National Party which was an attempt to get National to amend their ways. National would not change. There is now a New Nation Party and their policy with respect to Covid is Freedom of Choice, no discrimination, no mandates. You may wish to amend your comment.
We have to get this nation sorted out proper and I support Robin who said all the politicians have to go. Get rid of the lot and the sooner the better.

Editor: Could you please post the comment by ihcporo. Maybe you could censor it ever so slightly. In general I do not support censorship on these types of sites. Often if people are to outrageous the rest of the site speaks out.

Thanks. You are doing an important job in these days of unprecedented censorship from MSM. I am disturbed by the direction NZ has been taken since the last election. I am old but I’m fiercely proud of our country and the lifestyle it offers ALL of us. I am not a member of any political party, but believe that the way we are currently headed will destroy this paradise that we all have created, enjoyed and appreciated. It’s far too important to just sit back and do nothing. It’s our life.
