Last year a controversial government TV commercial and printed advertising for its ‘3 Waters’ featured cartoon-style versions of people and animals in and around green-sludge-like water; one person holding a glass of murky green drinking water. Unsurprisingly, many councils found them puerile and offensive. The commercial has now been taken down from video sharing websites.
But here’s the Labour Party back again with similar imagery, in fact it’s worse. Not only that, it says “you won’t foot the bill” for its new centralised super-bureaucracy — really? Who will then — Klaus Schwab? George Soros? Bill Gates? Larry Page? Mark Zuckerberg? The Clintons?
Why on earth are these ‘ads’ being labelled as ‘Labour’ – that is surely ‘disinformation’ as it is the government making the changes? I’ve no doubt it is a deliberate attempt to associate the party with ‘progress’ as early electioneering.
I wonder if the Government has been taken lessons from Putin? The imagery being used to foster our support for their race-based water assets grab is as absurd as the disinformation being used by the Kremlin to support their invasion and slaughter of the Ukrainian people.
The infamous 3 waters propaganda from last year seemed to be directed at Maori more than any other ethnic group. The above image is neutral but the inferences are false. The general principle is that local situations and local needs differ. At best under 3 Waters there is going to be cross subsidization of council areas that have poorly managed water assets by ones that have done that relatively well — KCDC is in the later category. At worst — well, plenty is being said about that.
We think both Ukraine and Russia have indulged in propaganda covering bad practices but Ukraine has been and is worse than Russia.
Fiona, you obviously have little idea as to the events unfolding in Ukraine, and it is obvious, from your post, that your source of information about Russia and Ukraine can only be from the msm.
Like NEW ZEALAND as a country should do, so should you – stay out of what is happening in Ukraine, and focus on what is happening in OUR COUNTRY.
Reading between the lines on the new Three Waters Maori grab ! Nothing has changed with with the reformed Three Waters proposal. It is just another Maori we want idea. Our Mayor being a Ex Labour Minister Steve Chadwick has already given Rotorua’s approval much to the disgust of all its ratepayers.
