Not so long ago the delivery of newsprint was a sure thing for local newspaper publishers. Now they’re facing a price shock that could send some of them to the wall – with free community papers likely to be the first to go.
“It got delivered to our door. It was as easy as it could be,” says Aaron Buist, chief executive of Beacon Media Group in Whakatāne.
All that changed when Norske Skog’s paper mill in Kawerau closed last year, and publishers had to go offshore – to Norske Skog’s Tasmania mill – for their paper. They got a real taste of the supply crisis that’s hit newspaper businesses around the world, sending costs soaring.

Well, as far as I personally am concerned, I will be glad to see the back of our 2 local free weekly advertising rags, The Northern Nuseless and The Bay Comical, both owned by STUFFED DOT CON. The quality of the paper that they use is such that they don’t even make good firelighters. The bulk of the content is advertising, they are obviously pro Jasinister and pro Ukraine. I could go on, but I think I have made my point(s) Hopefully the increase in the cost of paper will be such that it will put up the prices of the propaganda pedlars that their readership will go down as will advertising revenue and they will suffer like CNN and Twitter. Good riddance as far as I am concerned

Couldn’t agree more, they were rarely delivered anyway. Except we will no doubt run short of paper to light the fire with. Presumably the council has some shares in them so they may save some money and one of the “communication advisers”.

When we had a wood burner, we switched from the local rags to the real estate handouts, much better quality paper and much better firelighters. I would stop by the real estate office every so often and help myself from their magazine stand outside the office.

Exactly what one would expect when sold out to Globalists and foreign owners. The newspapers just dont get it. News print and fish and chip paper imported on boats which produce CO2
The article took me to Newsroom communists and more on the climate change scam.
The temperature is dropping and we are heading into a Mini Ice Age.
I look forward to the day when those left wing a……s will have to grovel and apologise. Not long to go.

Does that mean we’ll get less junk mail too?!
