Police officers carry Greta Thunberg out of a group of demonstrators and activists in Erkelenz, western Germany, on 17 January 2023, as demonstrations continue against a coal mine extension in the nearby village of Lützerath. RNZ story
Germany announced that because it decided to cut imports of Russian natural gas, it would have to reopen coal mines in the country: the public has different views to the politicians that they should all freeze ‘for Ukraine’ this winter.
The problem is that while burning natural gas doesn’t cause air pollution, burning coal does — in fact it’s bad. Would not the answer be to resume buying natural gas from Russia? The NATO led sanctions on Russia are hurting the Europeans far more than they are hurting Russia.
Why worry about Germany using a bit of coal again, China is in the process of building 46 new coal fired power stations to go along with its 1100 odd coal fired power plants using 10 to 14 thousand tonnes of coal a day in each station. Greta should go to China and protest I’m sure the Chinese would welcome her with open arms.
Look at the smug, knowing little puppet pushed out there by her miscreant parents.
If she had had some actual discipline and had done some work in her short, ridiculous life she might be of some use to society, but will likely end up like a latter-day Paris Hilton famous for a shallow empty existence and being photographed a lot.
Come to think of it, we have had one like that here recently that has suddenly seen the virtue of not being seen and with good reason. When does the reckoning start?
