Even the KCDC kaumatua paid a little tribute this morning to an iconic singer who’s been part of the popular music scene for six decades.
This song, the theme to Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome seems particularly apt right now with Biden’s nuclear warmongering:
Out of the ruins
Out from the wreckage
Can’t make the same mistake this time
We are the children
The last generation (the last generation, generation)
We are the ones they left behind
And, I wonder when we are ever gonna change, change
Living under the fear, ’til nothing else remains
The comeback queen.
My favourite ever is Nutbush City Limits 90s version – boy could she belt out a song and so many wanted to perform with her. Cher once remarked that she herself had a sailor’s mouth but that Tina was all class.
I like the 90s version of Nutbush because after she divested herself of a mean and jealous husband she made a good life for herself.
