Some of the Hawiian island of Maui, in particular the pictuesque, historic town of Lahaina now looks like a tactical nuclear weapon has been dropped on it.

We spent a couple of weeks on Maui in May 2018 and were particularly taken with this town and like millions of others, are sad to see what has happened to it. We stayed a couple of the days at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort in the picture, a 6-storey building on the beachfront which looks relatively unscathed, unlike just about every other building.

This becomes relevant with the changes made to the KCDC’s District Plan last Thursday by the council, an article on which we are writing.
