The activists have done their research, they do know. Why let the truth get in the way of a ‘good’ agenda.
If Peters did his research he would know that the term Maori is a colonial construct. When the European arrived in what became NZ the people who were already here were called natives.
No one came to NZ as Maori. They may have come as Polynesian. As Ranginui Walker says, to the effect …:”When they arrived there were people the Tangata Whenua already here”.
When we dig deeper we learn that a false history is being promoted and that NZ was settled as early as BC, they may have been the Waitaha. We also learn there were several types/races of peoples in NZ. Red hair – black hair. Fair skin – dark skin.
The Maori did not come come to NZ in large mythical ocean going fleets of canoes. It is more likely they were pressed crew who were washed ashore as the result of shipwrecks. Thus all Maori may have descended from Ngapui. Members of Ngapui have sought out new places and have moved along the coast in dugout canoes made from NZ trees. We now pick up Ranginui’s story, …”Wherever they went ashore people were there”.
One of the shipwrecks was a giant Chinese ship and there was/is a very old Chinese settlement in Northland.
The Maori activists are Marxist backed. We now have mainstream Maori and Marxist Maori.
NB If Maori came officially 1350AD though possibly later then we would expect to have some evidence of ocean going canoes. Nothing. The canoes buried in the sand dunes of Raglan area is Totara. Which supports the above comments.
NB Original mere with bands around the handle and possibly with a hole were of South American design eg Waitaha.
What we dont know is how they worked and polished the greenstone.
We have to establish the true history of NZ and move ahead as one.
The foreign ownership is pitiful.
