A message from the council.

Previous Heritage Fund recipient the Kotukutuku Ecological Restoration Project is an initiative protecting and restoring biodiversity in a 32-hectare property. The project recently celebrated the birth and fledgling of a New Zealand falcon/kārearea chick in a rātā tree on the property.

Applications are now open for our Heritage Fund, which provides financial support to help protect special and unique places across our district.

This year $39,000 is available for activities caring for ecological, geological, historical, and cultural features. This includes things like fencing, planting and pest control, as well as research or education projects that tell our heritage stories.

Applications close 5pm, Monday 31 October 2022. Council’s Grants Allocation Committee will make funding decisions in December 2022.
