Colt DevRies

There’s been a lot of talk about cycle lanes recently. This Colt DeVries pic wasn’t taken in Kapiti, but is an illustration of what is sure to annoy motorists.

The council in this area hasn’t made the paved shoulder wide enough for it to be considered a cycle lane, although there is verge space to make it wider for that.

The NZTA has a webpage for cyclists. It states, among other things:

  • Use cycle lanes and cycle paths if they are available.
  • Keep to the left side of the road when practicable.

These cyclists are not adhering to the second statement.

Road courtesy and considerate behaviour applies to both motorists and cyclists.
