Waikanae Butchery staff used to look out the window at a pleasant brown stone wall — then along came NZTA in February 2022 and tore it down, replacing it with a plastic orange one, which has just been removed. Now they can admire yellow pipes inserted by the gutter.

It has been a long time in the making but finally the Waikanae Butchery has a clear view of the Main Rd after NZTA (a.k.a. Waka Kotahi) have finally tidied up the area and removed the orange fencing and dramatically reduced the number of orange cones. Works continue in the area which features more sets of traffic lights within 150 metres than anywhere else we are aware of including central Wellington and Central Auckland.
