Mr Patrick Dougherty, the notorious former boss of KCDC, who quit at the end of 2017, features in this article about Wellington Water of which he is a board member:

“A clearly tense member of the board of Wellington Water, Pat Dougherty, issued an unreserved apology at the meeting and said the board would be conducting an independent review to make sure there is no repeat.

“He acknowledged Wellington Water had “shot itself” in the foot and damaged its credibility and relationship with councils.”

Is anyone in Kapiti or Nelson (where he was in charge of the City Council there for the 5 years after he left KCDC) surprised?

As for “the board would be conducting an independent review” — there is no way it will be independent and it will not find any fault with the Board.

Dougherty says he still lives in Nelson on his LinkedIn page  (9) Patrick (Pat) Dougherty | LinkedIn — so does he do Zoom calls with the other board members from Nelson? It’s highly unlikely — instead he is certain to fly over and be put up in a 5 star hotel, although the annual cost of that would be miniscule compared with the $51 million Stuff-up.
