As Trudeau Cracks Down, the Left Drives Protesters Into the Right’s Arms Again, by Jonathan Cook — STRAIGHT LINE LOGIC
Jonathan Cook is probably fearing for his own political health. He has always been one of a group of people who have prided themselves on being left and big quoters of Noam Chomsky, globalist gatekeeper. Accordingly he follows the globalist line on such issues as the “climate apocalypse” https://consortiumnews.com/2021/08/17/where-best-to-ride-out-the-climate-apocalypse/
However Chomsky wanting to lock up the unclean was a step too far. And Cook is realising that the brand of leftists Trudeau and Ardern is akin to fascism.
I’m not sure what Cook fears when he talks about protesters being forced into the arms of the right. Is he worried about ordinary people rejecting traditional leftist (globalist) causes such as climatism, contrived mass migration, elimination of property rights, critical race theory? While these can be seen as a package, most people will assess the issues separately.
The traditional Left/Right dichotomy isn’t really enough to describe the range of political-economic thinking as a lot depends on the amount of authoritarian versus libertarian attitudes that accompany both ends. At one time the Green movement was Libertarian Left, but they’ve become authoritarian centralised power-mongers like the Labour Party. This grouping now represents the Establishment.
