Australian Open: Quarter-Finals time

25 Tuesday Jan 2022

Denis Shapovalov is a player with a lot of potential. When he is on, it’s hard to stop him. Rafael Nadal

Down to the last eight

By Roger Childs

It’s now down to the last eight in the singles and, as expected, the first four rounds have made mockery of the seedings. Out of the top ten on the men’s side Zverev (3), Rublev (5), Rudd (7) and Hurkcaz (10) are gone while among the women four of the top ten seeds have been eliminated — Sabalenka, Muguruza, Sakkari and Kontaveit.

The quarter-finalists are a mix of highly experienced players and talented youngsters. Among the men Jannik Sinner is 20, Felix Auger–Aliassime is 21 and Shapovalov is 22. Polish number one Iga Swiatek is the youngest women’s finalist aged 20. With the absence of recent super-stars such as Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, the up and comers are pushing hard to win their first grand slam.

Tight, entertaining matches

The crowds at Melbourne Park have certainly had their money’s worth so far. They have seen plenty of quality tennis and a number of top seeds have had to work very hard to move into the last eight. The men’s favourite, top seed Russian Daniil Mevedev had to pull out all the stops to beat Maxime Cressy from the U.S. 6-2 7-6 6-7 7-5, and fourth seed Stephanos Tsitsipas needed all his skill and fitness to  overcome American Taylor Fritz 4-6 6-4 4-6 6-3 6-4.

All four of Monday’s fourth round matches in the women’s draw went to three sets and the closest match saw Estonian Kaia Kanepi eliminate second seed Aryna Sabalenka 5-7. 6-2 7-6.

Prospects for the titles

Australian Ash Barty is the number one seed and has not dropped a set in the first four rounds. She remains the favourite. Others possible finalists are Madison Keyes and Iga Świątek. However as with every grand slam, it is hard to pick winners and punters could have made huge money at the US Open selecting two unseeded players for the final and the first qualifier in tennis history – Emma Raducanu – as the winner.

In the men’s competition top seed Daniil Medvedev and U.S. Open winner, remains the favourite, however, Rafael Nadal will be working hard to win his 21st grand slam. However, he knows that he has a challenging quarter final on his hands against Canadian Denis Shapovalov who upset third seed Alexander Zverev in a straight sets triumph in the fourth round. Greek Stephanos Tsitsipas is likely to make the semi-finals at least.

There is plenty of exciting tennis to come and as the field narrows the quality of play is bound to increase.

How to complain to the Advertising Standards Authority about Jacinda government dishonest advertisements

25 Tuesday Jan 2022

Posted by Waikanae watchers in Uncategorized

These have constantly proclaimed, among other things, that multiple injections of Pfizer’s substance “keep your whanau safe”; the sooner you get jabbed the sooner you will get your freedoms back — and so on. Yeah, right.

Dr Guy David Hatchard

The Government’s Covid-19 ‘vaccine’ advertising campaign contains numerous references to the complete safety of the inoculation. Recently the phrase ‘safe as’ has been used. Young people and adults have been featured saying they have had the ‘vaccine’ and it is completely safe. The Pfizer vaccine safety information sheet lists 21 adverse events. Three of these are serious: allergic reactions, myocarditis and pericarditis. The last two particularly affect young people. Our children have been deliberately exposed to advertising information claiming complete safety—a misleading message. Our Government has allowed the vaccination of children as young as 12 at school without the permission of their parents. These children have not been informed there are risks, therefore they are not capable of giving their informed consent. The Government is now underway with the vaccination of 5-12 year olds. You can complain about inaccurate government advertising online at:

The complaints process

When complaining you should quote the Medsafe data sheet:

Click to access comirnatyinj.pdf

This sheet shows that the Government is aware of adverse effects. According to Medsafe there have been at least 144 cases of myocarditis/pericarditis reported up to 9th October:

Medsafe also say that they believe only about 5% of adverse effects are reported:

https://www.medsafe.govt.nz/profs/puarticles/adrreport.htm

Myocarditis is a serious illness

The Myocarditis Foundation reports: “In simple terms, myocarditis is a disease that causes inflammation of the heart muscle. This inflammation enlarges and weakens the heart, creates scar tissue and forces it to work harder to circulate blood and oxygen throughout the body.

“While we often associate cardiovascular conditions with elderly populations, myocarditis can affect anyone, including young adults, children and infants. In fact, it most often affects otherwise healthy, young, athletic types with the high-risk population being those of ages from puberty through their early 30’s, affecting males twice as often as females. Myocarditis is the 3rd leading cause of Sudden Death in children and young adults.”

There is a great deal of preliminary research on the risks of myocarditis and pericarditis subsequent to both vaccination and covid itself. You can quote a recent NY Times article which summarises the risk following vaccination is much higher than initially believed:

Nigel Farage reacts to U.K. Office of National Statistics revelation on how many really died from covid alone

25 Tuesday Jan 2022

‘We’ve seen again and again, estimates of how bad this crisis could be that are nearly always massively over-exaggerated, but this has really made me sit up and think.’ Nigel Farage reacts to the amount of people who have died purely of Covid since the start of the pandemic. 700,000 deaths are recorded each year in the U.K. — covid only contributed a bit over 1% of that, and the average age at death was 82.5 which is older than average life expectancy in the U.K!
