According to the GWRC rainfall meter at the Water Treatment Plant, 111.3 mm fell during the weekend and ended a dry spell lasting some 6 weeks. Importantly, it means the Council is unlikely to start pumping borewater into the Waikanae River, for a few weeks at least, which has been the subject of much criticism from ecologists.
