The usual bias and misreporting by the Stuffers is in that article: “misinformation outlet Counterspin media among the crowd, including Kelvyn Alp, who was last year charged with distributing objectionable material.” They can’t resist attacking opponents of their Leftist agenda. They also know that all Counterspin Media did was include a link to a skeptical documentary about the Mosque attacks in 2019 on their website and the charge was purely political. That’s the nature of the Leftist establishment.

I went to another meeting at the KCU football club rooms tonight at Raumati about Our Vision for Raumati and there was reasonable attendance. There were also two other councillors I recognised in the audience.

Tonight Bede Laracy and Sophie Handford had a young mother speaking enthusiastically about how excited she was to be involved in the project. This person advised her background, some of whichwas with an NGO and event management but she advised she works for herself now.

People were again raising the topic of 15-minute/smart cities and all three of the presenters were adamant that this was not a sneaky or subtle way of laying the groundwork for these open air concentration camps. The people who believed it weren’t having a bar of it.

An older woman who I judged to be in her late 70s got up and accused the no-15-minute city crowd of being conspiracy theorists who were bonkers and said she loved being able to cycle or walk everywhere. I hope she goes to the village shops or supermarket every day as I don’t see how she would manage to transport a weekly shop home by walking or cycling. Cold, inclement weather would also present certain difficulties.

The speakers tried to reassure the audience that it is not about 15-minute cities but stated that as change was inevitable that people might as well prepare for it and saywhat they wanted. The insisted that they were not connected with the council for this project.

The same material was discussed like markets, festivals, seed exchanges, food trucks etc – as if none of this has ever occurred in the community before.

The question in my mind is why are they going to all this trouble, because the council will do what they damn well please despite any representations they may make. I still believe that this is a softly-softly catchy monkey exercise. Also the communities managed just fine before these aficionados got involved.

In short it seems that it can only be:
■These people are trying to cultivate acceptance through these “community consultation” meetings where everything in the garden is lovely. What is the pay off for them?
    ■ They are genuinely naive and are not worldly enough, or well read enough to grasp they are convenient and expendable if things go wrong
    ■ Someone is hanging something over their heads

An older man at the end of the meeting stood up and stated that the punishment for malfeasance by public officials is capital punishment. The meeting closed shortly after that.
