Part of a travelogue by a globetrotter named Jub Bryant. According to Sue Lusk, he is ‘born and bred in Waikanae and, like many young people, needed to get away to see what’s outside Waikanae before really appreciating Waikanae. He is currently touring the world and writing a blog about his experiences and came home for January. He has now added his time in Waikanae to a travel blog he has been writing since April 2013 – “tiki touring kiwi” named after the Tiki Tours he enjoyed with his dad as a youngster (a great kiwi name for “adventures with no plan at all” as he calls them).’
his Waikanae webpage
We’re not clear exactly where he means with ‘The best spot to swim is just north of Waikanae Bridge’ — the footbridge at Otaihanga, or the railway bridge? (in both cases really east or west rather than north).
Hey, Jub here! Thanks for the mention. Funny how I assume North = up above the bridge, and assumed that it was the railway bridge :).
That was me not thinking about the reader enough in this case. Will edit that to make it more clear!
