The need in the community for services like those Atareira provide must have increased significantly since March.
“Established in 1979 as Schizophrenia Fellowship Wellington Branch, Atareira is an incorporated society and a registered charity affiliated to Supporting Families in Mental Illness New Zealand (SFNZ)
“The term Atareira describes an early morning, when there is just a silhouette of the approaching dawn on the horizon. A time when we receive our first glimpse of what the coming day will bring. It is a time of anticipation, preparedness and hope.
“Atareira offers a number of services including Family/Whanau support, short term housing, Children Understanding Mental Health programs, support groups and other community supports.”
