What is it about hot weather that excites Leftists in a way that freezing weather doesn’t? Well, we all know the answer to that — members of the Climate Cult.
It seems tonight’s TV One bulletin writers had consulted the thesaurus: “It’s a scorcher, ‘sizzling’, ‘sweltering’, temperatures soar’, ‘piercing rays,’ ‘baking,’ and of course, ‘major warnings’ all got mentioned in the first couple of minutes.
And what temperatures were they talking about? Well, it was 31C in Christchurch, and a ‘peak’ of 34C in Timaru (the MetService site says 31C) and 33 in Oamaru (29). For Stuffs Sake, that’s not hot — if it was over 40 the hype would be understandable.
For good measure they visited an old folks home with a tray of ice blocks for them to lick and cups of water to drink. Had the air conditioning broken down? No, the manager confirmed it had been turned on ‘nice and early.’
For even better measure they got in touch with Health NZ, or Te Whatu Ora as Leftists call it, and asked about high temperatures of the type you can get in central Australia or Arizona, which told them “excessive heat exposure can cause heat stroke, heat rash and even the likes of sunburn.” Wow, who would’ve thunk it?
In actual fact, severe cold causes far more health risk for people than heat, but the Leftists never mention that. How did all the people who had to sleep rough in tents or cars because of the last government’s policies cope with that last winter? They say nothing.
Let’s get out and enjoy summer weather!
Interesting. I now live in New Zealand’s winterless north, just outside Paihia. I lived 9 years in Calgary, Alberta with regular 40 below zero and snow from Halloween until Easter. I lived 11 years in Atlanta, Georgia with plus 40 centigrade and very high humidity. Paihia is just about ideal, not too hot, not too cold and no snow. I always get a chuckle when the locals start wilting and whingeing when it gets up to 28 and whining when it gets down to around 5 or 6.
Forgot to mention, will have been in Winterless North 21 years next month
