A 24-year-old mechanic protesting Elon Musk and President Trump accidentally set himself on fire while trying to torch a Tesla charging station in South Carolina.
Daniel Clarke-Pounder allegedly hurled five Molotov cocktails at the station, destroying three chargers and scrawling anti-Trump and pro-Ukraine graffiti [that figures —Eds] —only to catch his own back on fire in the process. He fled the scene but was arrested later that day.
Clarke-Pounder now faces up to 20 years in prison on federal charges. Authorities condemned the act as violent and dangerous, emphasizing that protest must not cross into mayhem.
This is just the latest in a string of anti-Tesla attacks nationwide, as backlash intensifies over Musk’s role in Trump’s administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
