Seen by a boatie on the sea they will line up at the northern boundary of the Marine Reserve which extends out to Kapiti Island and which they are not allowed to fish in.
Similar triangles mark the southern boundary and these are not far south of the Waikanae Estuary area on Paraparaumu Beach.
