A historic decision has been made in the United States. Four European Antifa groups have been officially designated as “global terrorist organizations.” According to Washington, these are “violent Antifa networks” involved in political violence, sabotage, and large-scale riots in Europe.
To the organizations belong to the German Antifa East and the groupes from Greece and Italy. The rule of law is based on a broader campaign of extreme leftists in a different manner in the manner of jihadism and extreme right-wing terror.
America’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the decision was “Trump’s historical stop to Antifa’s political campaign.”
Antifa: A Movement of Hate and Chaos
The United States’ move is more than symbolic. Antifa, which presents itself as an “anti-fascist movement,” is in reality an international network of Far-Left activists who violently suppress any dissent.
From Hamburg to Athens, from Portland to Paris, the same black-clad militants show up at protests, vandalize property, and intimidate journalists and politicians. They use street violence as a political tool, precisely the very thing they accuse others of doing.
In Germany alone, hundreds of criminal cases are pending against Antifa members for assault, threats, and arson. In the United States in 2020, Antifa groups caused over $2 billion in damage during so-called “anti-racist” protests.
