Some of our local plants make great Christmas decorations but please check that fluffy flower head you’ve waving around is not pesky pampas! Don’t substitute pampas for toetoe in floral arrangements as transporting and handling the flowerheads just spreads these weed seeds even further. 

These plants look a lot alike but there’s some tell-tale differences. Toetoe tends to have a more delicate dropping flower head. Pampas (pictured) usually looks a lot more upright, thicker, and fluffier but its leaves will snap off more easily than toetoe leaves — remember “toetoe = tough”!
