(ANP) – The US State Department has expressed similar criticism to that of nationalist politician Nigel Farage, who claimed that anti-racism guidelines have led to the police not treating all ethnic groups equally. It stated that the case shows that not all groups are treated equally by the British police.
The British government says it does not recognize itself in the American criticism following the death of student Henry Nowak. British Justice Minister David Lammy told Sky News that he does not recognize himself in “this caricature of Great Britain with a criminal justice system with double standards.”
The death of the white Nowak has led to widespread outrage in the United Kingdom. Footage shows the stabbed and dying teenager being handcuffed by the police after his attacker had accused him of racism. Officers ignore his pleas. His murderer, Vickrum Digwa, was later sentenced to life imprisonment.
