Oh dear another money pit started by our beloved council.
I was impressed with Tauranga council opting for a referendum about a possible museum – After the referendum the museum is off the table and there is a little less pressure on rates. Well done.
Now wouldn’t it be good if our council became democratic and opted to use referendums more often.
The big issue is not so much what the council does in Waikanae (because it has really done very little here to date), but how much it manages to spend on what it does do. This work is apparently costing $500,000. The whole tendering process needs investigation by an independent auditor.
