Antelope Valley poppies

Antelope Valley Poppy Field

With ANZAC Day occuring next week, even though it won’t be able to be marked in the usual manner, the main symbol of it, the poppy, comes to mind.  Poppies begin flowering about this time of year in Belgium (although they are not now as abdunant there as in the past — article).  Presently, poppies are blooming in some parts of California, too  — pics above of the Antelope Valley Poppy State Natural Reserve, about 70 km north of Los Angeles, from Google Earth.
