Roy Morgan poll September 2022
Party Vote
- Labour 29.5% (-5.5% from August)
- National 36.0% (+0.5%)
- Greens 12.5% (+3.5%)
- ACT 12.5% (+2.0%)
- Maori 3.5% (-1.5%)
- NZ First 1.0% (-0.5%)
- TOP 2.5% (+1.5%)
- New Conservatives 0.5% (nc)
*This would require Waititi to keep his seat.
Government formations
Direction of the country
- Right 37.5% (nc)
- Wrong 51.5% (-1.5%)
This is the first poll to show Labour in the 20s, an extraordinary decline from the 50% they got at the election. They would lose a massive 27 MPs on this poll. They would lose every single List MP, even if they lost three electorate seats.

That’s great news, hope it transfers through to local body elections

That’s still way too many ‘votes’ for Labour! Cindy can be manipulative and claw some back (via a crises), although I hope her time is done. She’s possibly even more dangerous working for the UN. Seems predictable. I’m surprised Greens are up too – a result of more greenwashing? Suspect the powers that be actually want us to vote for National in the usual flip-flop between the to 2 main hands of the puppeteer to make us think we live in a democracy when really it’s all just manipulated. National have been an appalling opposition. My best hope would be to see ACT lead a Nat/ACT coalition, but still wishful thinking as most people can’t change away from old habits/beliefs that fast, nor do they necessarily want to.

I’d rather have Seymour than Luxon. Luxon is a bit of a wet lettuce and useless in opposition. He will probably be worse in power.
Brian Johnston said:
Have you met and spoken to Seymour.
I have though very very briefly, went to a meeting. That was enough. Not leadership material.

It’s most important that National take the right messages from this, and don’t think it’s all about their better economic management
