It seems Karl Felipe Patisserie in Mahara Lane has been committing the grievous sin of serving sit-down customers with deserts and coffee in crockery when it doesn’t have an on-premises loo! So it can only serve them them in cardboard boxes and disposable cups!
It seems the bureaucrats weren’t keen on them having tables outside either, but relented on that.
So yesterday Eva and Geoffrey sat down at one of their little tables and experienced a haute cuisine black forest mousse (lowest in the pic) served in a cardboard box, albeit with silver teaspoons and a paper serviette — isn’t official red tape merveilleux?

How many cafes have a public toilet you can use?
Why don’t the owners just have clean crockery available for sit down customers and still serve in disposable? That way when you have your coffee you can pour it into a ceramic cup yourself or put your cake on a ceramic plate? Or even take your own crockery? You could even get the shop to look after your crockery for you.
The only way to deal with red tape around crockery is to turn it onto a mockery
How much money was wasted on new public loos. We are in for another very bad 3 years, starting with the gateway.
Can someone please tell me the connection between what you eat and drink out of and where you go to the loo? I’m struggling to understand it!
It probably came about from some 18th century bylaw to do with drinking establishments and people peeing outside them.
what about the pie shop a few down the row from Karls. Have they had a visit?
We don’t think so but will ask.
