Neither the US nor its allies are prepared to fight all-out war with Russia, regionally or globally

by Douglas Macgregor on The American Conservative

Until it decided to confront Moscow with an existential military threat in Ukraine, Washington confined the use of American military power to conflicts that Americans could afford to lose, wars with weak opponents in the developing world from Saigon to Baghdad that did not present an existential threat to U.S. forces or American territory. This time—a proxy war with Russia—is different.

Contrary to early Beltway hopes and expectations, Russia neither collapsed internally nor capitulated to the collective West’s demands for regime change in Moscow. Washington underestimated Russia’s societal cohesion, its latent military potential, and its relative immunity to Western economic sanctions.

As a result, Washington’s proxy war against Russia is failing. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was unusually candid about the situation in Ukraine when he told the allies in Germany at Ramstein Air Base on January 20, “We have a window of opportunity here, between now and the spring,” admitting, “That’s not a long time.”

Alexei Arestovich, President Zelensky’s recently fired advisor and unofficial “Spinmeister,” was more direct. He expressed his own doubts that Ukraine can win its war with Russia and he now questions whether Ukraine will even survive the war. Ukrainian losses—at least 150,000 dead including 35,000 missing in action and presumed dead—have fatally weakened Ukrainian forces resulting in a fragile Ukrainian defensive posture that will likely shatter under the crushing weight of attacking Russian forces in the next few weeks.

Ukraine’s materiel losses are equally severe. These include thousands of tanks and armored infantry fighting vehicles, artillery systems, air defense platforms, and weapons of all calibers. These totals include the equivalent of seven years of Javelin missile production. In a setting where Russian artillery systems can fire nearly 60,000 rounds of all types—rockets, missiles, drones, and hard-shell ammunition—a day, Ukrainian forces are hard-pressed to answer these Russian salvos with 6,000 rounds daily. New platform and ammunition packages for Ukraine may enrich the Washington community, but they cannot change these conditions.

Predictably, Washington’s frustration with the collective West’s failure to stem the tide of Ukrainian defeat is growing. In fact, the frustration is rapidly giving way to desperation.

Germany asked Brazil for ammo to use against Russians in Ukraine — Brazilian president told them to Stuff off

Brazilian President Lula da Silva shot down an offer to sell tank ammunition to Germany for use in Ukraine, Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo reported on Friday. A vocal critic of the West’s policy toward Ukraine, Lula has striven to remain neutral on its conflict with Russia.

The president allegedly rejected the request at a meeting with Brazilian defense chiefs and Defense MInister Jose Mucio last week. According to the paper’s sources, since-dismissed army commander Julio Cesar de Arruda told Lula that Germany wished to purchase just under $5 million worth of shells for its Leopard 1 tanks.

Save Our Supplements: oppose the Therapeutic Products Bill

28 Saturday Jan 2023

We Object!

Affordable access to natural supplements is not the government’s to take and neither is access to natural health practitioners, who may be unable to practice due to the effects of this bill.  We do not need protection from something that has been around for centuries.

We are asking the new Prime Minister, Mr Hipkins, and parliament to rescind this section of the bill.  We agree that medicines, medical devices and active pharmaceutical ingredients should be regulated by an independent body without any industry ties, along with synthetic ingredients in foods such as additives.

The last three years have made us skeptical of regulatory bodies and the government as they have repeatedly shown that they do not have the interests of New Zealanders at heart.

This bill will not weed out the “cowboys”, nor will it make it easier to see a naturopath. It will make it a lot more expensive as practitioners, manufacturers  and suppliers will have to contend with a lot of red tape.  Remember what happened with eggs?

On a personal note to MPs, if only for your own self-preservation as MPs and as parents, siblings and children, do not let this bill go through.

How to Object

It is easy and we walk you through it on our post here.

The People Have the Power When We Work Together

We can get to a million touch points, using the government’s submissions page, signing a petition, talking with MPs and holding placards.

Why are all the revelations being made now about Joe taking classified docs to his house and storing them in his garage when the DNC knew all about it before the 2020 election?

New peer-reviewed study: >217,000 Americans killed by the covid ‘vaccines’ in just the first year alone!

The last thing the medical establishment wants are actual surveys of people who have been vaccinated and suffered adverse reactions. If they don’t ask, nobody can tell. From Steve Kirsch at stevekirsch.substack.com:

And it also turns out that serious adverse events were ~5X higher than what Pfizer reported in their Phase 3 trial. But it’s OK because they are immune from prosecution.

Croatian President calls Germany’s ‘We are at War with Russia’ comment “Madness”

Germany won’t have any better success in war against Russia than they had 70 years ago

from Summit News

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic responded to the German foreign minister saying “we are fighting a war against Russia” by calling the remark “madness” and wishing Germany better luck than with the last war they had with Russia 70 years ago.

Milanovic was responding to the bizarre and inflammatory statement made by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Tuesday.

Annalena Baerbock belongs to the lunatic Green Party — who’s surprised?

“Yes, we have to do more also on tanks but the most important and the crucial part is that we do it together and that we do not do the blame game in Europe because we are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other,” said Baerbock.

Milanovic ridiculed the comments, saying that such a development was news to him.

“Now the German foreign minister says we must be united, because I quote, we are at war with Russia. I didn’t know that,” Milanovic said. “Maybe Germany is at war with Russia, but then, good luck, maybe this time it turns out better than 70-odd years ago.”

“Do you want us to enter the war?” asked Milanovic during a visit to the port city of Split, adding that Croatia “should in no way help” Ukraine militarily.

Europe’s most Corrupt country caught doing Corruption

28 Saturday Jan 2023

from Redacted

A dozen officials in Ukraine have resigned in a large-scale corruption scandal that involved politicians accused of all number of unsavory things, worse during wartime.

Officials were accused of bribery, mismanagement of aid, embezzlement, and driving expensive cars that a government salary should not afford, all during a war that has devastated the economy. This is not new. The government of Ukraine has been this way for decades. Former President Kravchuk was known to drive a Mercedes that would take 136 years to pay for on the Presidential salary.

What is new is the West pretended that they did not know this about Ukraine. They’ve known. And they still open their wallets to support a war that is killing Ukrainian people and enriching Ukrainian politicians. President Zelensky said this week that supporting Ukraine is a “big business” opportunity. Is that why they do it?

It doesn’t seem to be a great opportunity for Germany. The Institute of German Economics calculated that the conflict in Ukraine will cost €175 billion, which equates to €2,000 per person and 4.5% of the country’s GDP. No wonder German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was dragging his feet about committing to more aid. But alas, he seems to have been convinced and will announce a plan to send more battle tanks along shortly.
