The traffic lights in the foreground were installed last year, but not switched on until a couple of weeks ago. The purpose they serve has yet to be established. The two lanes between the Elizabeth Street lights and here have become one and the previous free left-turn into Ngaio Road has been abolished, all making for a peak-time choke point.
