That’s the heading on this post on the BFD by a contributor upset by the Green Party’s public show of support for Hamas and, presumably, Islamic Jihad. It’s hardly the way to foster a harmonious society when those two organisations make very clear that in regard to Jews their objective is much the same as that of the Nazis of the 1930s.
On Monday, David Seymour said by way of a Media Release:
“Green MP Chloe Swarbrick must explain why she is repeating statements from the terrorist organisation Hamas’ charter,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.
“Chloe Swarbrick was videoed leading a chant of ”From the river to the sea” at the same rally where Labour MP Phil Twyford was forced off the stage after saying he condemns the violence against civilians by Hamas. The phrase appears in the Hamas charter and there is a large group of people, at the very least, who believe it means no Israel and even no Jewish people.
“UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has condemned the use of this phrase, while UK Labour suspended an MP for using it last week. Meanwhile in New Zealand the Jewish community lives in fear of anti-semitism and must watch as political leaders repeat it with no accountability.
“While Chloe Swarbrick has the right to say what she likes, people also have the right to question what she meant when she is repeating such inflammatory statements.
“She needs to explain to New Zealand’s Jewish community, and to New Zealanders more broadly, why she thought it was appropriate to lead a crowd chanting a phrase that has such a dark meaning for so many people.”
Not satire?
The entity committed to genocide and ethnic cleansing is the Israeli government. In order to achieve this they were prepared to sacrifice the lives of Israeli citizens. https://wltreport.com/2023/10/08/watch-i-served-idf-25-years-ago-intelligence/?fbclid=IwAR0EFBv-luY_FbdD2CbhXd3PP2v3NJAaLK1ef9S2ANL18NCk6KfXfCJNUHA
It really does the Jewish diaspora no favours to equate them with rabid Zionism. It has been well reported that Jews around the world (and not just the fundamentalists) have been organising massive protests against the actions of the Israeli government.
Meanwhile the Greens and Maori Party are trying to equate NZ with Palestine. People round the world will assume that the NZ government is firebombing Maori refugee camps, having destroyed their villages, burned their olive groves, and forced them off their land. And they are hardly going to convince NZers that the Palestinians have a serious cause. They’re a menace.
Definitely not satire. We fully agree with your last paragraph.
I totally agree with the above sentiments that Swarbrick should explain her comments in detail. This is not the first time contentious comments have been made by her. The trouble is this group and their cohorts are all young people and typically know very little of the world as it is. Predictably idealistic.
I do not like the situation that exists between Israel and Gaza. Yes, there were problems between Israel and the Palestinians, particularly over “homelands” for both, but there was a relative peace. When ‘out-of-the-blue’ Hamas sent a shower of missiles into Israel killing 1400 people, what on earth did people think the Israeli response would be.
I hope diplomacy succeeds but dealing with Terrorists is always difficult.
Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood which is banned in Egypt (and elsewhere in the Middle East) and the reason Egypt has wanted to keep them out as much as Israel has.
The Muslim Brotherhood is an Egyptian creation. In the 2011 elections their Freedom and Justice party won more seats than any other, and their candidate Morsi became president the following year. After Morsi was toppled in 2013, the Muslim Brotherhood was declared a terrorist organisation, and in 2014 an Egyptian court sentenced 529 members to death on disputed grounds.
and in the following year’s war between Hamas and Israel, the Sisi regime clearly sided with Israel.
Another dumb political bitch. And these people are on good money doing phucken nothing.
Thankyou Auckland Central for reaffirming this idiot to our parliament. She keeps bleating ‘evidence based policies’ but in reality that excludes anything that doesn’t conform with her delusional view of ‘reality’. Our elected representatives should not behave publicly in such an extreme manner – the world media will pick up comments such as hers as New Zealand’s stance, because that’s the way modern MSM survives. Bad, naive, and damaging look.
It takes the likes of Cameron Slater, Brian Tamaki, and David Seymour to make the Green Party look good. The Greens are asking for Palestine to be liberated from European colonialism; Israel First nutters are cheering on genocide and ethnic cleansing: more than 10,000 dead so far. Israel’s latest is to demand that Gaza’s only paediatric hospital be evacuated. You won’t read about that in the BFD, nor about the testimony of survivors who say that Israeli forces shot their own civilians, nor the opinion of former Israeli officers who say that Israeli authorities MUST have been complicit in the affair: “we were a sacrifice”.
The Green Party seems to think Islamo-Nazis are good no matter where they are, but in New Zealand or Aotearoa as they call it, neo-Nazis are their mortal enemies (although in Ukraine they’re fine). That simply reflects their deluded, absurd view of the World and its peoples. As Carol Sawyer says they aren’t Green (they support poisoning the environment with 1080), they’ve said nothing about freeing journalist Julian Assange from American persecution, they are total hypocrites in just about everything and they side with terrorist organisations like Antifa. It’s a party deserving nothing but contempt.
